About the film

A documentary built from listening.

Our Voice exists because transgender people are often discussed before they are heard. The film offers another approach: sit down, listen carefully, and let people tell the truth of their own lives.

Contributors are invited to share what they want audiences to understand: their challenges, joys, relationships, work, families, fears, ambitions, and hopes.

The aim is a cinematic documentary that feels human before it feels explanatory, and honest before it feels polished.

Editorial principles

The story belongs to the people telling it.

I believe that the people who have the most to win or lose in any conversation should be represented in that conversation. So only trans voices will be in the film. After all, who better to speak on what it's like to be trans in the UK than a trans person?

Understanding begins when we stop speaking over people and start listening.
