Spent the day following a small group of trans people having a peaceful protest in Inverness city centre to highlight the dangers trans people face from the rise in hate and bigotry. Sadly this rise was whiteness First hand by the filmmaker with one person threatening and assaulting her, thankfully he quickly left and the footage was captured showing him threatening her. But that didn’t stop the trans community protesting to carry one in their peaceful and at time joyful protest. Later in the day while I was sat talking to the protesters at a local arts centre a woman who had seen the protest came over with a bottle of fiz to say she was proud to see them standing up against the hate. This goes to show that he haters are the minority.

Making the film
Follow the progress.
So today I had the pleasure of shooting two interviews in the home of a lovely couple. With an 8am start and a 6:30pm finish it was a long day, but a worthy day. Got some great quotes from them both and some personal perspectives on life as a trans person in the U.K. And the day doesn’t end for me at 6:30, back to the hotel to charge batteries and ingest camera cards, that another two hours work.
Open this entry on its own pageOne of the joys, and hardships of filming this documentary if the distances I'm covering to visit the people in filming. As I want to so them in normal daily live, to show trans people are just like everyone else I need to go to where the are most at home, home. I’m seeing parts of the country try I have never seen before which I love, as travel broadens the mind. stodgy is a LOOOONG day up at 8am to get equipment ready to travel (to be fair mostly ready, just my paranoia really) but I also wanted to spend some time with my daughter who’s staying at home to look after the dog that we don’t have, her excuse because mum is SOOOO embarrassing......typical 19 yr old, secretly thing she’s going to have a wild party.

All funds remaining at the end of the project will be split donated 50/50 between a trans advocacy charity and a women’s charity that continues to be trans inclusive to show that trans rights and women’s rights are the same fight and not in opposition.
